- Solar system : The ESA space probe Venus Express reaches its final orbit around Venus , which runs between 250 km and 66,000 km above the Venus poles. - Yogyakarta / Indonesia : The earthquake on Central Java on May 27th left at least 6,000 dead and 10,000 injured. Around 200,000 people are homeless. The activity of international disaster relief is made more difficult by heavy rain and, at the request of the government, is partially diverted to the construction of mobile clinics.

- Basra / Iraq : The city in southern Iraq has been declared a state of emergency. Since the amicable government was formed in Baghdad on May 20, the number of terrorist attacks has increased.
- Île-de-France / France : Again, some Parisian suburbs are affected by youth riots. The authorities are preventing a possible expansion to other cities through increased controls.
- Karlsruhe / Germany : The Federal Constitutional Court confirms the compulsory education of all children in the highest court and judges the criminal sanctions for non-compliance with compulsory education by religious parents in accordance with the constitution
- Uri / Switzerland : A rock fall near Gurtnellen kills a German couple. The Gotthard road tunnel and the Gotthard motorway will remain closed for several days, which is likely to severely hinder tourist traffic at Whitsun. On steep slopes not far from the site of the accident, large boulders broke through the safety nets in 2003 and 2005 and caused severe damage.
- Vienna / Austria : The nationwide compulsory stable for poultry due to the H5N1 bird flu has been lifted from July 1st, the minister responsible has announced.
