Military training areas in Germany
The military training area command, or command office for short, ensures the military order on the military training area, the distribution of the individual shooting ranges , training rooms and training facilities . The boundaries of the military training areas are marked by signs; the access is because of the danger of unexploded ordnance - ammunition prohibited. The largest military training areas in Germany are Bergen, Altmark (Colbitz-Letzlinger Heide), Grafenwoehr, Munster North / South and Upper Lusatia.
By the legal definition , military training areas are basically military security areas ; individual parts of the site, mostly external fire positions, can be declared to be military areas only .
Areas of military training command offices
Since January 1, 2015, the areas of the training area command offices NORTH, EAST and SOUTH have been set up. They are managed by the Bundeswehr Territorial Tasks Command . The commanders of the areas manage the subordinate training areas and ensure regional coordination. They control the utilization of the military training areas of the respective area with regard to occupancy planning and resource management.
The subordinate training areas are managed by commanders. These carry the operator obligations, ensure the operation of the military training area and create the framework conditions for the implementation of shooting and exercise projects by the users.

Military training areas in Switzerland
The term "military training area" is not used in Switzerland - military training areas are called " arsenals ".
There are federal and cantonal weapon stations. In 1993 an initiative tried unsuccessfully (no: 55.3% and 16 stalls) to limit its number to 40. In 2006, however, only 39 weapon stations were operated.
The following gun and shooting ranges are currently in operation in Switzerland:
- Chamblon arsenal (VD), with branches in Vugelles, Le Day, Bretonnières and Les Rochat
- Weapons Square Chur (Rossboden and Rheinsand)
- Thun arsenal

In the evenings and especially on weekends, the weapon area - including tank tracks and paved paths - serves as a public park that is popular with joggers, cyclists, inline skaters and model pilots. Due to the danger of duds , certain zones are not allowed to be entered. There are also several soccer fields, a baseball field and a glider airfield.
- Waffenplatz Walenstadt (St. Luzisteig)
- Herisau-Gossau arsenal
- Waffenplatz Bern (sand)
