map

Ostenfeld (Rendsburg) is a municipality in the district of Rendsburg-Eckernförde in Schleswig-Holstein .

Geography and traffic

East field is located on a small, of Sander- and former marsh areas surrounding, Altmoränenkuppe the Saale ice age , right on the border with the Vistula glacial young moraine landscape , the east off Bovenau followed.

The soils of the surrounding fields, like the entire lower and high geest of Schleswig-Holstein, are much more leached ( browned , decalcified and / or podified ) due to periglacial processes than the fertile ground moraine areas that begin between Ostenfeld and Bovenau . This location on the sharp border between lighter Geest soils in the west and the heavier and more fertile ground moraine areas in the east of Schleswig-Holstein determined the background of the settlement history of Ostenfeld for a long time.

Ostenfeld is only a few kilometers away from the historic Ochsenweg , the former course of the Eider as the historical border between Holstein and Schleswig , the Kiel Canal and its forerunners, the old Eider Canal , the federal motorway 7 , the Rendsburg motorway junction and the Railway line Hamburg - Flensburg - Aarhus . The railway line from Rendsburg to Kiel has passed through the town since 1905, and it has had a stop there in the meantime. The federal motorway 210 , also from Rendsburg to Kiel, also runs across the area of the municipality.

history

The place name appeared for the first time in writing in the Kiel city register, in the years 1264 or 1265 as de Ostenvelde designation of origin . Originally, the name probably means a location in the sense of "eastern part of the field".

The Ostenfeld (Husum) , which is about 60 km further north-west, was described differently in old documents in Danish dialect in Ostenfiold and can thus be clearly distinguished from the Rendsburg Ostenfeld.

In the area of the Ostenfeld municipality, finds from the Stone Age and the Bronze Age have been made.

On November 1, 1970, the name of the community Ostenfeld (Rendsburg district) was officially changed to Ostenfeld (Rendsburg) .

politics

The community council consists of nine seats. In the 2008 local elections , the KWG municipal electoral community won five seats and the ABWU ( Active Citizens and Voters Union ) four. In the 2013 local elections , the KWG received six seats and the ABWU three.
