The race ends at the Vélodrome André Pétrieux in Roubaix

The Paris – Roubaix 2017 cycle race in the 115th edition of this cycling classic took place on Sunday, April 9, 2017. It started in Compiègne and ended after 257 kilometers in Roubaix . The race was also part of the UCI WorldTour 2017 and was the 15th of 37 races there.

This event went down as the fastest Paris – Roubaix in history. The hourly average was 45.204 km / h . The existing speed record came from 1964 with 45.129 km / h, driven by Peter Post . Olympic champion Greg Van Avermaet fell behind early after a fall, but was able to catch up with the front again and break away 30 kilometers from the finish with a five-man leading group, whose sprint he won.

The Italian driver Andrea Guardini gave up the race early and took a “shortcut” to Roubaix over the hard shoulder of the motorway. There he was discovered by the police who took him to their station in their car. There he could watch the end of the race on television.
