The Scottish Premier League was played for the ninth time in 2006/07 . It was also the 110th edition of the highest soccer division within the Scottish Football League in which the Scottish champions were determined. In the 2006/07 season, 12 clubs competed against each other in a total of 38 match days. Each team played three times against each other team, making a total of 33 games. Then the league was divided into two halves, in which these teams played against each other again. In the event of a tie, the goal difference counted .
Celtic Glasgow won the Scottish Championship for the 41st time in the club's history. The Bhoys qualified as champions for the 2007/08 Champions League season . Runner-up Glasgow Rangers also played in the Champions League because of Scotland's improved position in the UEFA five-year standings . The defeated cup finalists Dunfermline Athletic , as well as the third-placed FC Aberdeen qualified for the UEFA Cup . Dunfermline Athletic was relegated to the First Division at the end of the season . With 20 goals, Kris Boyd of the Glasgow Rangers was top scorer.
