Mélisey is a commune in the Haute-Saône department in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté . It is the capital of the canton of Mélisey .

geography

The municipality covers 20.67 square kilometers at 325 to 480 meters above sea level . The village is located on the river Ognon , east of the village rises to over 800 meters above sea level the forest area of ​​"Mont de Vannes". It lies on the edge of the nature reserve of the "Thousand Ponds" ( Plateau des Mille Étangs ) and is part of the Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park .

Attractions

The main attraction of the place is the church of Saints Pierre et Paul, which dates from the 11th and 12th centuries in the eastern tower and apse area and thus from the Romanesque period. The neo-Gothic longitudinal building was built in 1857–61 by the architect Félix-Hercule Grandmuogin (* 1805; † 1879). The complex contains two sarcophagi from the 13th century made of monolith blocks . Another special feature of the place is the stone cross "La croix en grès" made of sandstone. A brick arched bridge leads over the Ognon in the village .
