The Austrian Football Championship 2003/04 was organized by the Austrian Football League Association. The single-track First League served as the foundation for the Bundesliga . The third level represented the regional leagues east (Vienna, Lower Austria, Burgenland), middle (Upper Austria, Styria, Carinthia) and west (Salzburg, Tyrol, Vorarlberg).

In the 2003/04 season the GAK was able to successfully assert itself in the Bundesliga for the first time and become Austrian champions. The title was fixed with a 1: 1 in the Arnold Schwarzenegger Stadium against Pasching in front of a sold out house one round before the end. As champions, the Graz team started qualifying for the 2005 Champions League . Since the athletes failed in the third qualifying round against Liverpool, they continued to play in the 2005 UEFA Cup together with Austria, Pasching and Rapid . The Graz and Vienna Austria reached and survived the group stage, with Austria only narrowly missing the semi-finals with two draws against Parma and the GAK failed in the second round at FC Middlesbrough.
