The Mittersill Road (B 168a) is a national road under construction in the Austrian province of Salzburg . It will have a length of 1.5 km and is located in the urban area of Zell am See .

history

The road designed as a bypass was planned to relieve traffic in Schüttdorf , the southern part of Zell am See. Construction of the road began in July 2020 and is expected to be completed by summer 2022. The construction costs were estimated at 18.4 million euros. Along with the construction of the road, flood protection measures that are still under construction for the Zeller Basin will be terminated along with the route .

According to the planning, the road branches off from Pinzgauer Straße B 311 at road kilometer 43.6 and joins Mittersiller Straße B 168 at kilometer 0.8. The new road is expected to relieve traffic in the southern area of ​​Schüttdorf by 28% on Pinzgauer Strasse and 45% on Mittersiller Strasse. Pinzgauer Strasse was used by around 19,000 vehicles per day in the relevant area (with mention from July 2020), Mittersiller Strasse by around 17,500 vehicles per day.
