This is a listing of all number one hits in Italy since 1960. All albums and singles that have topped the charts in Italy are listed. From 1960 the charts of the magazine Musica e dischi (M&D) serve as the basis . Since 1995 (albums) and 1997 (singles) the official charts have been determined and published weekly on behalf of the Federazione Industria Musicale Italiana (FIMI).

The list is broken down by year: weekly single charts have been available since 1960, monthly album charts since November 1964 and weekly album charts since May 1970. The transitions from the M&D to the FIMI charts take place in 1995 and 1997.
