Owschlag ( Danish : Okslev ) is a municipality in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district in Schleswig-Holstein. Norby, Boklund, Ramsdorf ( Ramstorp ), Sorgwohld ( Sorgvold ) and Steinsieken ( Stensig ) are in the municipality.

Geography and traffic

Owschlag is about eight km north of Rendsburg and 13 km south of Schleswig on the edge of the Hüttener Mountains . The federal highway 7 runs to the east from Hamburg to Flensburg, to the west the federal highway 77 runs from Rendsburg to Schleswig. The railway line that connects both cities has a train station in town. Until 1954 there was a railway line of the Eckernförde Kreisbahnen from Owschlag to Eckernförde .

The Owschlager Lake of the same name is located in the municipality .

The place was first mentioned around 1500 as to Osslachte . He belonged to the Eckernförde district until it was dissolved.

The handball division of TSV Owschlag is known nationwide thanks to the 1st women's team and the female youth A representation. Both teams played in the respective Regionalliga Nordost. The merger of the handball division of TSV Owschlag with the former HSG Kropp-Tetenhusen in 2015 resulted in the HG Owschlag-Kropp-Tetenhusen . The 1st women's team plays in the 3rd division, while the 2nd women's team plays in the Oberliga HH / SH . The female youth sector also plays in the highest age group from the C youth.
