- April 12th : The Paris Olympia opens its large concert hall. The Music Hall is used by the great artists of the time and also for other events.
- May 10th : As part of the second chamber music festival, the Beethoven House opens in Bonn . The house where Ludwig van Beethoven was born is not only a memorial but also a museum and cultural institute.
- The first sousaphone is built.

- Antonin Dvorak : On December 16, leading the New York Philharmonic , the Symphony No. 9 ( From the New World) at New York's Carnegie Hall on the first time.

- Eugen d'Albert : Piano Concerto No. 2 in E major, Op. 12; Piano Sonata in F sharp minor op. 10; Man and Life for Choir op.14
- Ethel Smyth : The Mass in D major, the composer's only sacred work, premiered on January 18, 1893 in the Royal Albert Hall in London. Although the world premiere , which was only possible thanks to the intervention of the former French Empress Eugénie de Montijo , was an enthusiastic success, the work was not performed again until 1924.
- Claude Debussy : The world premiere of the secular cantata La Damoiselle élue .

- January 27 : The premiere of the opera Debora by Josef Bohuslav Foerster takes place at the National Theater in Prague .
- February 1st : Cesira Ferrani sings the title role at the world premiere of Giacomo Puccini's opera Manon Lescaut at the Teatro Regio in Turin.
- February 9 : World premiere of the opera Falstaff by Giuseppe Verdi at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan. It is the composer's last stage work.
- February 18 : Over 46 years after the concert premiere in Paris, the staged world premiere of the "dramatic legend" La damnation de Faust ( Faust's damnation ) by Hector Berlioz takes place in Monte Carlo.
- April 11 : World premiere of Isaac Albéniz's Magic Ring at the Prince of Wales' Theater in London
- May 9 : World premiere of the opera Aleko by Sergei Wassiljewitsch Rachmaninow in the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow
- June 15th : World premiere of Isaac Albéniz's operetta Poor Jonathan at the Prince of Wales' Theater in London
- October 7th : World premiere of the opera Utopia Limited by Arthur Sullivan at the m Savoy Theater, London.
- October 12 : premiere of the opera Der Rubin by Eugen d'Albert in Karlsruhe. It is the composer's first opera.
- December 23 : The late romantic fairy tale opera Hansel and Gretel by Engelbert Humperdinck is premiered with extraordinary success at the Weimar Court Theater. The libretto for by Humperdinck in an ironic allusion to Richard Wagner's opera Parsifal called "Kinderstubenweihfestspiel" work wrote his sister Adelheid Wette after the eponymous fairy tale from the Grimm's Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm .
