The Ligue 1 2007/08 was the 70th season of the highest French football league. The season began on August 4, 2007 with the opening game Racing Strasbourg against Olympique Marseille and ended on May 17, 2008.

Olympique Lyon won the championship for the seventh time in a row ahead of Girondins Bordeaux . The title decision was only made on the last day of the match when Lyon beat Auxerre 3-1.

Racing Lens and the two newcomers Racing Strasbourg and FC Metz had to relegate .

    Karim Benzema from the champion Lyon was named the best player of the season, other candidates for this award were Mamadou Niang , his teammate Jérémy Toulalan and Wendel . Hatem Ben Arfa , who also works for Lyon , received the award for the best young player . The other nominees for this award were Yohan Cabaye , Miralem Pjanić and Mevlüt Erdinç .

    Seven players from third-placed Olympique Marseille were selected into the team of the season. Laurent Blanc was chosen as coach by runner-up Bordeaux.

    The France FootballGolden Stars ” for the best players of the season went to Karim Benzema (just ahead of his club mate Jérémy Toulalan and Stéphane Sessegnon from Le Mans) for the field players and Hugo Lloris (Nice) for the goalkeepers , followed by Fabien Audard (Lorient ) and Steve Mandanda.
