2018 Primetime Emmy Awards
The 70th Emmy Awards in the Prime Time category (originally: 70th Primetime Emmy Awards ) took place on September 17, 2018 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles ( California ). The nominations were announced on July 12, 2018 by Samira Wiley and Ryan Eggold . Programs that were broadcast in the period from June 1, 2017 to May 31, 2018 were taken into account. In the United States, the awards ceremony was broadcast on NBC . Michael Che and Colin Jost , two screenwriters on the comedy series Saturday Night Live , hosted the event.
The Creative Arts Emmy Awards had previously been presented on September 8 and 9, 2018. They honor guest actors in television series, animation series and documentaries, but also television professionals in technical categories, including production design , costumes , camera and editing .
Award winners and nominations (selection)
Most nominations received The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story , the second season of the FX series American Crime Story , with nine nominations. This was followed by Atlanta , also from FX, and Hulus The Handmaid's Tale , each with eight nominations. The most successful was the Amazon comedy series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel , which received five awards, including best comedy series. The Americans , The Crown and Game of Thrones each won two awards, The Assasination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story won three Emmys. Peter Dinklage earned his third Emmy for his role in Game of Thrones , while the series was named Best Drama Series for the third time since 2011 and 2015. Productions from HBO and Netflix won a total of 23 awards, series from FX and Prime Video 5.
Glenn Weiss , who received an Emmy for best director of a variety show ( Academy Awards 2018 ), proposed marriage to his partner Jan Svendsen on the open stage, which met with a great response on social networks, especially Twitter and Instagram .

Creative Arts Emmy Awards (selection)
The Creative Arts Emmy Awards were presented by the Television Academy on September 8 and 9, 2018.
