List of kuk combat troops in July 1914
The army of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy (official name: Armed Power or Wehrmacht ) consisted of three equal parts since 1867:
- of the Joint Army from both parts of the country ( this list )
- the Imperial and Royal Landwehr from the kingdoms and countries represented in the Imperial Council
- the ku Landwehr (Honvéd) from the countries of the Hungarian Crown .
Remarks
- Due to the structure of the multi-ethnic state, there were several names for the garrison towns outside of the German-speaking area. Most of the cities also had a German name, but the garrisons that were then still part of Hungary and now, for example, in Romania or Croatia, usually had a Hungarian name (only this was official!) In addition to the customary name.
- The areas and places that had previously belonged to the Republic of Venice had Italian names and had kept them under the Austro-Hungarian monarchy; for example Castelnuovo, which is now called Herceg Novi and is located in Montenegro (after the end of Austrian rule, the name was changed accordingly).
- The ethnic composition of the units was only in the rarest of cases consistent with the location of the station. The kuk Infantry Regiment "Ritter von Milde" no. 17 was, for example, actually mostly of Slovaks and Slovenians not.
- All information given here relates exclusively to August 1914
