January 2nd : World premiere of the opera Ein Wintermärchen by Karl Goldmark in Vienna

January 21 : The world premiere of the operetta The Man with the Three Women by Franz Lehár takes place at the Theater an der Wien in Vienna .

January 25th : The opera Leyli va Majnun by the Azerbaijani composer Üzeyir Hacıbəyov is premiered at the Baku Haji Zeynalabdin Tagiyev Theater. It is based on Fuzūlī's version of the popular love story Leila and Majnun .

March 7th : The opera fragment Die Bürgschaft, a composition begun by Franz Schubert in 1816 but never completed, is performed for the first time in concert in Vienna. The first two acts and the beginning of the third are available.

March 26th : premiere of the operetta Die Grüne Redoute in Danzer's Orpheum in Vienna.

November 4th : Premiere of the opera Sealed by Leo Blech in Hamburg

November 7th : premiere of the operetta The Funny Wives by Robert Stolz in Brno

November 13th : The operetta Bub oder Mädel by Bruno Granichstaedten with the libretto by Felix Dörmann and Adolf Altmann is premiered at the Johann Strauss Theater in Vienna.

November 14th : Premiere of the operetta The Brave Soldier by Oscar Straus at the Theater an der Wien in Vienna

December 23 : premiere of the operetta The Divorced Woman by Leo Fall at the Carl-Theater in Vienna.
