- January 25th : The opera Leyli va Majnun by the Azerbaijani composer Üzeyir Hacıbəyov is premiered at the Baku Haji Zeynalabdin Tagiyev Theater. It is based on Fuzūlī's version of the popular love story Leila and Majnun .
- March 7th : The opera fragment Die Bürgschaft, a composition begun by Franz Schubert in 1816 but never completed, is performed for the first time in concert in Vienna. The first two acts and the beginning of the third are available.
