Charles Chandler (rower)

Charles Robert Chandler (born July 21, 1911 in Berkeley , † June 22, 1982 in Oakland ) was an American rower .

The six-foot-tall Chandler was a member of the eighth of the Golden Bears , the sports team at the University of California, Berkeley , in 1932 . The eighth won the championships of the Intercollegiate Rowing Association and also qualified for the 1932 Olympic Games in Los Angeles . In the run-up to the Olympic regatta, the eighth won by four seconds ahead of the boat from Canada. In the final, the Italian eighth, who was two tenths of a second behind the Californian boat at the finish, led the Canadians bronze.

Chandler later worked for a business form development company.
