Information broadcasts

The best-known broadcast of the ARD is the news program Tagesschau , which was broadcast for the first time on December 26, 1952 and is still considered the most important information program on German television. Since 1978, the background-oriented news program Tagesthemen has also been broadcast late in the evening, in contrast to the Tagesschau .

On October 2, 1989, the ARD-Mittagsmagazin began , which, unlike the other news programs, is not the responsibility of the ARD-aktuell editors at NDR , but is managed by rbb . It is broadcast on a weekly basis with ZDF . In 1992, the ARD morning magazine started as a breakfast television under the leadership of WDR and is also broadcast on a weekly basis with ZDF.

Sports

Sportschau broadcasts the Bundesliga

Alternating with ZDF , ARD reports on major sporting events, which are mostly broadcast on Das Erste . These include B. the world and European championships in football as well as the Olympic summer and winter games . Some tournaments are broadcast entirely by ARD and ZDF (e.g. Olympic Games ). In some tournaments, however, other broadcasters also have exclusive broadcasting rights; at the 2006 Football World Cup , for example, ARD and ZDF only showed 48 of the 64 games live.

The international matches of the German national soccer team , the Tour de France , athletics tournaments and the World Cup of various winter sports (e.g. biathlon ) are also broadcast live alternately on ZDF. Many of the sports broadcasts from ARD and ZDF can also be seen on Eurosport . The first one also broadcasts the DTM races live.

The sports show on Saturdays reports on the Bundesliga in a 90-minute summary.
