Denmark took part inthe 2012 Olympic Games in London . It was the 26th participation in the Summer Olympics. The Danmarks Idræts-Forbund (DIF) nominated 113 athletes in 17 sports.

The canoeist Kim Wraae Knudsen , who won a silver medal in a two-man kayak over 1000 m at the 2008 Beijing Games , was chosen to be the flag bearer at the opening ceremony . At the closing ceremony , Allan Nørregaard , bronze medalist in 49er sailing, held the Danish flag . The team also included swimmer Pál Joensen from the Faroe Islands . He started for Denmark for the first time, as there is no independent National Olympic Committee of the Faroe Islands.

With a yield of two golds, four silver and three bronze medals, the country placed 29th in the medal table . In the Olympic history of Denmark, nine medals mean the most successful games since 1948, which just exceeded the expectations of the DIF and the elite sports organization Team Danmark , which had hoped for eight medals beforehand.
