Saint-Marcel (also: Saint-Marcel-en-Dombes ) is a French municipality with 1279 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Ain in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the canton of Villars-les-Dombes in the Bourg-en-Bresse arrondissement .
geography
Saint-Marcel is located in the middle of the lake landscape of the Dombes , about 34 kilometers south-southwest of the prefecture of Bourg-en-Bresse . Saint-Marcel is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Lapeyrouse in the north, Birieux in the east, Montluel in the south and south-east, Saint-André-de-Corcy in the south and south-west and Monthieux in the west.
