The Stubaitalstraße ( B 183 ) is a 13.0 km long state road in Austria . It leads from Schönberg (junction from the Brennerstraße B 182) through the Stubaital via Mieders and Fulpmes to Neustift . From there it continues as Ranalter Straße (L 232) to Ranalt and continues to the Mutterbergalm and the valley station of the Stubai Glacier Railway.

history

The tourist development of the Stubai Valley began on June 15, 1891, when a regular stagecoach connection from Innsbruck to Neustift was set up in the summer.

The Stubai Road to Fulpmes was to be expanded as a competing road from 1899 as part of a road construction program. In Austrian legal language, competition refers to the joint financing of a project by various institutions, each of which assumes a percentage of the maintenance costs specified by law. In this case it took over

  • the Austrian Empire 30%
  • the state of Tyrol 45%
  • the neighboring communities 25%

the planned construction costs of 145,200 guilders.

However, these road construction plans were not implemented, instead the Stubaitalbahn was built.

The Stubaital Straße to Neustift has been part of the network of federal highways in Austria since January 1, 1949 .

On May 15, 2002 the name of the Tyrolean Parliament was changed to Stubaitalstrasse .

B183  Like the other former federal highways, Stubaitalstrasse was part of the federal administration. Since April 1, 2002, it has been under state administration and continues to have the B in the number, but not the name Bundesstraße.
