history

The church
Danish school

The earliest historical traces can be found in the form of large stone graves , of which about 30 can be found in the area (see, for example, large stone graves near Birkenmoor ). They originated between 3000 and 1000 BC. After that, there seems to be a climate-related migration of the population to the south. For a long time, the area was barely populated, which resulted in a forest that the locals called Eisenwald (Old German: Isarnho , Jutland: Jarnewith ).

The remains of a tower hill castle , which can be seen on Mückenbrook in Kaltenhof, come from the Middle Ages .

Dänischenhagen was founded under the name Slabbenhagen , but there is no foundation document.

The church was built in 1250.

Slabbenhagen was first mentioned in 1274 in the Kiel city book. When the place was bought by the Danish King Christian IV in 1632 , he called it Christianhagen . In the following years he was often referred to as Königshagen . In 1706 the phrase Zum Dänischen Hagen appears for the first time in a church document.

In 1848, on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the end of the Thirty Years War, an oak was planted in the center of the village.

The place has been called Dänischenhagen since 1864 .

During the First World War and shortly thereafter, a railway line ran through Kuhholzberg that connected Gettorf with Stohl . Part of the railway embankment can still be seen today near the intersection of Gettorfer Landstrasse and Kuhholzberger Weg.

coat of arms

Blazon : “In red a blue tip, bordered on both sides with a silver rope, which is covered with the growing silver steeple of the Dänischenhagen church. In the front upper corner three fan-shaped silver oak leaves, in the rear a silver millstone. "

The church tower in the middle of the coat of arms is a reference to the 13th or 14th century church in Dänischenhagen. The oak leaf on the top left is a reference to the 100 year old village oak in Dänischenhagen. The millstone on the top right is an indication of the importance of the mills and agriculture, Dänischenhagen had several windmills, a water mill and a horse mill. The ropes used for the division are an indication of the extinct profession of the Reepschläger , after which the street in Dänischenhagen is named "Reepschlägergang", one of the last Reepschläger carried out his profession here.

Inns and sights

The two inns "Zur Linde" and "Zur Eiche", both on Dorfstrasse, have a long tradition. These were the inns of the surrounding manors. After attending the service in the parish of Dänischenhagen you could retire to “your” inn.

Gasthof "Zur Linde"

To the linden tree

The 'Zur Linde' inn in Dänischenhagen used to be the hangout and pitcher of the Bülck estate, which belonged to the Knoop estate until 1665. Wulf von Buchwald had received Bülck from his father Friedrich von Buchwald for his wedding and was the owner until his death in 1687. At that time Michael Möller Krüger was in the Linde.

After 1700 there was a new Kruger: Detlef Lorentz, married to Christiana Papen; later their son Joachim took over the linden tree. He was succeeded by Claus Christian Selmer until 1738 and Claus Kusau for the next two years. After the Bülcker Krug passed into Eckhofer's possession in 1741, the widow Anna Elsebe Lorentz became the new Kruger.

Since 1802 the jug belonged to Gut Seekamp and was inhabited by Johann Leeck. In 1892 the Zur Linde inn was run by the widow Stoll. Around 1900 the owner of the inn is the Schmüser family; E. Tank took over the inn around 1910. From 1934 the Bierbahs family is the owner.

The leaseholder and innkeeper of the Linde has been the cook and confectioner Wilhelm Beisel since 1978.

Gasthof "Zur Eiche"

To the oak

Hieronymus von Rantzow and his wife Anna von Thienen received the Seekamp estate in 1575 . They had a jug or an inn built in Dänischenhagen. When Christian IV (Denmark and Norway) bought the Seekamp estate along with some other goods in 1632 , the jug also passed into his possession. The jug remained in the possession of the Seekamp estate until 1800, which often changed hands. Shortly before 1800, Jens Peter Bruun Neergard, owner of the Eckhof estate, bought the entire Dänischenhagener Land. He turned the jug into a farmer's position with 36 tons of land and jug, which he leased out in leasehold. In 1835 Claus Rethwisch and his wife Christine Jensen took over this farm job and set up a bakery and a beer brewery there next to the mug. In 1855 Jürgen Friedrich Schütt and his wife Christiane Magdalene took over Kistenmacher and changed the name to "Schütts Gasthof". Jürgen Friedrich Schütt died in 1864 and Jürgen Schütt and his wife Margarethe Zitan took over the inn. They were followed by Friedrich Schütt and his wife Mathilde Rühr, then Bögner and his wife Anna Schütt. Elisabeth Bögner and her husband Karl-Heinz Raddant followed around 1950. They farmed, kept dairy cattle and ran the inn. They poured the beer from the Kiel brewery "Zur Eiche" and named the inn after the beer they served. The bakery continued in the basement until 1969. Horses, ponies and Galloways have been kept on the remaining 26 hectares since 1995. The son Carl-Wilhelm Raddant and his partner Anne-Christina Reher have been running the country inn since 1999. "Die Eiche" has been closed since December 2010.

The Oak

The landmark of Dänischenhagen is, next to the church, the peace and remembrance oak in the middle of the old village center. It was planted in 1872 in memory of the Franco-Prussian War and in honor of those who fell in this war from the Eckhof estate, to which Dänischenhagen belonged at the time. Pastor Meyer at the time gave a long dedicatory speech. However, the oak did not grow properly. Therefore, in 1873 an oak was planted again in the same place. Various sources report that the oak comes from a bend in Sturenhagen or from the Bülk estate. There is an inconspicuous memorial stone on the south side of the oak. This memorial was originally surrounded by a low picket fence, later a stone border was chosen.

In the great fire of 1896, which destroyed a number of buildings around the oak, including the school and the sexton's house, the oak itself also suffered considerable damage, and recovered splendidly in the years that followed.

The oak has been a recognized natural monument since August 27, 1940 and in 1952 had a span of 35 meters. From 1973, however, it began to be ailing and the branches were dry. Around 1985 the tree top was cleared of its dead branches by a tree surgeon and a ventilation and irrigation drainage system was installed.

The horse mill

The building at Schulstrasse and Kirchenstrasse is still called Roßmühle today. The building is mainly built from demolition material from the Danish-Nienhofer manor house (demolished in 1824) and / or poor house (demolished in 1832). Between 1835 and 1846 there was a Roßmühle here that squeezed groats and pearl barley. Their production was not subject to the mill compulsion that existed until 1853. If, on the other hand, residents of Dänischenhagen wanted to have grain of bread ground into flour at that time, they were subject to this mill compulsion, which they assigned to different mills. Some belonged to the Kaltenhofer Mühle, at that time still on Scharnhagener Feld, while others belonged to the Seekamper watermill and the windmill on Uhlenhorster Feld, also owned by the water miller. The inn "Zur Linde" was part of the mill at Sprenge. To operate the mill, the owner kept four horses, which, individually or together, pulled the Göbel on the drawbar like a carousel and thereby drove the standing shaft with the large gear on top and the hanging mill.

Around 1845 the Roßmüller was bankrupt. His successor converted the building into apartments, and a Hökerladen was built on the gable side facing Kirchenstrasse. The owner was the only one in the village who had the right to pour schnapps from barrels, which was also consumed on site from tin cups. The first owner of the property and probably also the builder of the Roßmühle was a Mr. Paul Hansen. In 1873 the master bricklayer Christian Kühl owned the Roßmühle, which he left to his daughter Hanne, married to Andreas Brügmann; In 1907 Andreas Brügmann was registered as the owner. In 1929 the new owner, businessman Richard Meyer, received permission from the district building authority to convert the ailing building. At the rear, two additional rooms were created from two stables, the warehouse and the furnace. Meyer was a private banker as well as the community leader of the then large community Schilksee, to which Dänischenhagen belonged. He had the rooms required for this built on the front facing Schulstrasse; the credit bank received its entrance from Kirchenstrasse. After 1936 the Roßmühle belonged to his widow Minna Meyer.

Church and churchyard

The North Elbian Evangelical Lutheran Church maintains the only church in Dänischenhagen, it belongs to the Eckernförde parish.

church

A church in Slabbenhagen is mentioned for the first time on a document from the Bishop of Schleswig from 1319. This church, a simple rectangular hall, was built from hewn field stones and was expanded several times over the centuries. Originally it probably looked like the Flemhuder Church and, like this, dates from the middle of the 13th century. A patron saint is not known. In 1691 a tower attached to the church replaced the free-standing bell tower. During the major reconstruction between 1798 and 1800, during which the west wall was shifted 5 meters by brickwork to enlarge the church, today's wooden gable tower was created. The built-on tombs, which were used to entomb the cartridge, are, for example, during a renovation in 1950. T. were removed again.

The interior of the church was redesigned in the classicism style by Johann Adam Richter in 1798–1800 . The baroque altar made by Hans Gudewerdt the Younger together with Klavs Eibe was removed and sold to the Preetz Monastery , where they are still located today, together with the old pulpit carved by Hans Gudewerdt the Younger . Instead, the Enlightenment theology was centered on a simple pulpit altar corresponding to the sermon . The medieval bronze baptism was also replaced. On the west wall there are three-story boxes for the landowners. The current color scheme dates from 1952.

The organ in the gallery behind the pulpit altar was built by Marcussen & Søn in Aabenraa in 1855 . Most of the original work was lost when it was rebuilt in 1963.

graveyard

Hildebrandt's hereditary funeral in the cemetery

The church is surrounded by an extensive cemetery, on which some architectural features can be found, such as graves and grave monuments of (locally) well-known personalities. In 1884, a mausoleum in Roman-antique style was built for the von Hildebrandt family in the churchyard according to the design by the architect Heinrich Moldenschardt . In 2000 and 2001 it was extensively restored, with the flat sloping roof being re-covered with slate and the roof structure, gutters, stucco work, terrazzo floor and wall plaster inside being renovated, renewed or reconstructed. The only fragmentary Byzantine decorative painting in the vaults has been preserved and supplemented. It is a cultural monument of particular importance entered in the monument book.

Church records

The parish registers can be found in the parish registry office in Rendsburg-Eckernförde. The Heimatgemeinschaft Eckernförde eV AG Familienforschung has transferred all entries in the parish registers to index cards and family sheets.
