- March 29 : SpVgg Fürth wins the South German soccer championship 1913/14 . Top scorer Karl Franz dies on September 4th at the front.
- West German football championship 1913/14
- The German soccer championship 1913/14 is the last championship before the start of the world war. The SpVgg Fürth defeated VfB Leipzig in the final on May 31 with 3: 2 after extra time. Football operations in the German Reich will cease in August.
Other national soccer championships
- May 10 : At the Swiss Football Championship 1913/14 , FC Aarau becomes Swiss champions for the second time.
- June 29th : Wiener AF wins the Austrian Football Championship 1913/14 with equal points ahead of SK Rapid Wien because of several games they have won. The last-placed First Vienna FC 1894 , which would then automatically have to be relegated to the 2nd division, a rule that the club itself was responsible for in this form, then founded the rival football union of the Austrian peoples with some other teams .
- Casale FBC wins for the first and only time by the Italian Football Federation conducted Italian Football Championship 1913-14 . In the two-game final on July 5 and 12, the team from Casale Monferrato defeated Lazio Rome with an overall result of 11: 1.
- August 26th : Italian immigrants found the football club Palmeiras São Paulo in Brazil .

- May 2nd : Edward Beeson , USA, jumps 2.01 m in the men's high jump .
- July 14 : Willie Applegarth , Great Britain, runs the men's 200 yards for 21.2 s.
- August 5th : Jonni Myyrä , Finland, reaches 63.29 m in the men's javelin throw .
- The International Amateur Athletics Federation ( IAAF ), founded in 1912 , publishes the first list of world records in athletics . Since the federation rejects women's sport , it only contains 95 men's world records.
Cycling
- May 24th to June 7th : Alfonso Calzolari wins the Giro d'Italia 1914 , the last Giro d'Italia before the First World War .
- June 28 to July 26 : The Belgian Philippe Thys wins the Tour de France for the second time in a row . On the day of the first stage, Franz Ferdinand von Österreich-Este is murdered in Sarajevo, which triggers the First World War. Many participants are drafted into the military after the tour because of the general mobilization. There was no Tour de France until 1919 .
- The second Circuit du Midi will also be held parallel to the Tour de France. As in the previous year, Frank Henry wins .
- August 2nd : At the 1914 UCI Track World Championships in Copenhagen, only one standing race for amateurs is held. Most of the competitions cannot take place because many participants have received their draft notices and left before the start of the World Cup. World champion is the Dutchman Cor Blekemolen .
- The distance bike ride Vienna – Berlin will be held for the sixth and last time. The winner is the German Erich Aberger .

- January 20th to 22nd : The LIHG Championship 1914 , the third and final LIHG Championship, takes place in Chamonix under the name Coupe de Chamonix 1914 . The Princes Ice Hockey Club , the team of Great Britain, wins the tournament with a record of 3 wins from as many games. Other participating teams are the Club des Patineurs de Paris , the syndicate Česká sportovní společnost / SK Slavia Prague and the Berlin ice skating club as defending champions.
- February 25 to 27 : The Bohemian national ice hockey team wins the 1914 European ice hockey championship in Germany, in which only three teams take part.
figure skating
- 24 / January 25 : The World Figure Skating Championships 1914 Ladies and Couples will be held in St. Moritz. The Hungarian Opika von Méray Horváth wins the women's competition ahead of the Austrian Angela Hanka . The Finnish couple Ludowika and Walter Jakobsson dominated the pair skating in front of two Austrian couples.
- February 1st / 2nd : The Austrian Fritz Kachler wins the 1914 European figure skating championship in Vienna, where there is only one men's competition.
- 21 / 22 February : The Swede Gösta Sandahl wins the World Figure Skating Championships in 1914 the men in Helsinki before the two Austrians Fritz Kachler and Willy Böckl .
Sledding
- February 1st / 2nd : The first European Luge Championships are held at Jeschken in Reichenberg . Rudolf Kauschka from Austria wins the 1914 European Luge Championships in the individual, with 88 tobogganists at the start. Oh, the double competition goes to Austria.
