After playing for [[IFK Skövde Fotboll|IFK Skövde]], he joined [[IFK Göteborg]] in [[2003]], a club he has played for until 2006, where he moved to the [[Denmark|Danish]] champions F.C. Copenhagen on a four year contract, in a deal worth of 6 million [[Danish krone|danske kroner]]<ref name="price">{{cite web |url=http://www.bold.dk/nyt/?vis=57295 |title=FCK skriver med svensk stortalent |publisher=bold.dk |language=Danish}}</ref>.

In IFK Göteborg he became an important first team player, earning him 14 appearances on the [[Sweden national under-21 football team|Swedish U21 team]] and a call-up for the [[Sweden national football team|Swedish national team]].

In his time in the club he played 91 mathes, and after his departure to F.C. Copenhagen, he left huge gap in the defence, which later was filled by [[Argentina|Argentine]] defender [[José Shaffer]] coming from [[Racing Club de Avellaneda|Racing Club]].
