← DFB Cup 2013/14 | |
The DFB-Pokal 2014/15 was the 72nd edition of the men's soccer cup competition. The final took place on May 30, 2015 and, as has been the case since 1985, was held in the Berlin Olympic Stadium.
VfL Wolfsburg won the cup for the first time in its club history with a 3-1 win over Borussia Dortmund .
Since Wolfsburg, as DFB Cup winner, had already qualified for the Champions League via the Bundesliga , the new UEFA regulation was applied for the first time , according to which, unlike in previous years, it was not the loser of the final that qualified for the Europa League , but instead the sixth of the Bundesliga final table, FC Schalke 04 , moved up from the 3rd qualifying round to the group phase and the seventh, Borussia Dortmund, received the free place in the 3rd qualifying round as an additional participant.
Furthermore, no two teams from a club or a corporation were allowed to take part in the games for the DFB club cup.

1st main round
The draw for the first main round took place on June 1, 2014 as part of the ARD World Cup Club . The 64 teams were divided into two lottery pots with 32 teams each according to the DFB Cup regulations . In one pot were the lower-class teams that
- had qualified for the DFB-Pokal through the regional associations (24),
- finished last in the 2nd Bundesliga in the 2013/14 season (4),
- had occupied the first four places in the 3rd division in the 2013/14 season (4).
Each of these 32 teams was drawn to a team from the other lottery pot, which included all 18 teams from the 1st Bundesliga and the 14 highest-placed teams from the 2nd Bundesliga from the 2013/14 season. The home right belonged to the teams of the first named pot.
The German U-21 national coach Horst Hrubesch took on the role of the draw manager. ARD Brazil expert Fernanda Brandão drew the encounters . The draw resulted in the following matches (the league level in which the club is playing is shown in brackets):
