The Radlpass Straße B 76 is a state road in Austria with a length of 49.3 km. It is named after the Radlpass , an alpine pass on the border between Austria and Slovenia .

history

The road from Graz via Straßgang , Lannach, Stainz, Frauenthal to Deutschlandsberg was assigned to the first class district roads by the law of October 3, 1868. At that time, the lane was not paved, it was cleared after snowfall, but it also happened that trucks sank up to the axles after heavy rainfalls and only cleared again after several hours of work, in which the chauffeurs of the other waiting cars also took part could become.

Since April 1, 1938, the district roads of the first order in Styria have been run as state roads.

The Radlpass road then belonged to the network from 1 January 1951 to 31 March 2002 federal roads in Austria , since it is a primary road of Styria. The designation B 76 was retained, but is no longer an indication of a federal highway.

course

The Radlpass Straße begins in the community of Lieboch at a roundabout with the Packer Straße B 70. The B 76 crosses the south motorway A 2 and passes Lannach on a bypass road. However, industrial and commercial enterprises are constantly settling along the Radlpassstrasse, which leads to a very high volume of traffic. Due to the small roundabouts (curve radii) in the municipal areas of Lannach and Deutschlandsberg, traffic jams can be expected during rush hour traffic . The B 76 then continues via Stainz , which it bypasses, to Deutschlandsberg . This route leads partly through hilly terrain, which means that the Radlpassstraße has a high gradient or inclines. A third lane was built on some inclines to enable faster road users to overtake. The B 76 also runs past Deutschlandsberg as a bypass road. Sulmtal Straße B 74 branches off from Radlpassstraße south of Deutschlandsberg . The next larger towns are Schwanberg and Eibiswald . In Eibiswald, the B 76 crosses the Südsteirische Grenzstraße B 69. For a short stretch the two state roads share the route. The further course of the Radlpass road leads to the Radlpass on the border with Slovenia.
