To the west of the village center is the Papissaare harbor (Papissaare sadam) . From there, boats run regularly to the island of Vilsandi . There is a long-established fishing industry at the port, which is best known for its sprats . The hangars for seaplanes date from the First World War .

A memorial stone in the harbor commemorates the era of the large sailing ships, which were built in the region in particular in the 1890s and were harbored in Papissaare. The best-known among them was the ocean-going three-master "Emma".
