  • Canberra / Australia : The opening of marriage in Australia comes into force.
  • Makurdi / Nigeria : Authorities in the state of Benue announce that after days of fighting over land disputes between Christian farmers and herders of the Muslim Fulani ethnic group, at least 80 people have died and thousands have fled because of the conflict.
  • Tegucigalpa / Honduras : Off the Caribbean coast of Honduras, one of the heaviest earthquakes in recent years occurs with a magnitude of 7.6. A tsunami warning is quickly lifted, and the Honduran civil protection authorities have not received any reports of damage.
  • Tehran / Iran : According to a member of parliament, around 3,700 people were arrested in connection with the protests of regime critics in Iran, significantly more than previously assumed. The highest religious leader, Ayatollah Chamene'i , describes the unrest as a struggle of the country's enemies against Iran and its citizens, as well as against Islam .
  • Warsaw / Poland : Poland's new Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki reshuffles his cabinet.
