- Athens / Greece : Parliament approves a bill allowing cannabis for medicinal use.
- Berlin / Germany : In the Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung , Jochen Brühl, as chairman of the non-profit aid organization Tafel , forbids advice from Chancellor Angela Merkel ( CDU ) after the Essener Tafel's decision to only accept Germans as new members . The development is "a consequence of their politics". Brühl means "the half-baked immigration policy ".
- Borno / Nigeria : In the town of Rann in the administrative region of Kala / Balge in the state of Borno, up to 112 fighters from the Islamist terrorist militia Boko Haram attack a military base near a refugee camp and kill at least 11 people, including eight security forces and three humanitarian workers.
- Bunia / DR Congo : 49 people are killed in armed clashes between the Lendu and Hema ethnic groups in the village of Maze in the Ituri province .
- Nagold / Germany : The Hüls Group sells its subsidiary for luxury furniture, Rolf Benz AG & Co. KG , to the Chinese furniture company Jason Furniture (Hangzhou) Co. Ltd. The transaction is subject to approval by the competition authorities.
- Ouagadougou / Burkina Faso : Several alleged Islamist attackers attack the French embassy and the French cultural institute in the capital. In addition, the building of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Burkina Faso is attacked. At least eight attackers and seven soldiers are killed.

On the same day, the submission of the federal decree on the collection of direct federal tax and value-added tax until 2035 is accepted with a large majority.

- Salisbury / UK : In Salisbury are Sergei Skripal , a former double agent of British intelligence MI6 , who lives in exile in Britain, and his daughter Yulia Skripal according to the police in Wiltshire with a neurotoxin of Nowitschok attacked group. A total of 21 people require medical treatment. The incident leads to allegations against the Russian government and is reminiscent of the poisoning of Alexander Litvinenko , as Skripal was also a defector of the Russian secret service GRU and is said to have maintained contacts with the Russian embassy.

Vietnam is "deeply concerned" about persistent and aggressive naval movements by the People's Republic of China in the South China Sea, former US Navy Rear Admiral John Kirby told CNN.
- Beijing / China : At the beginning of the annual meeting of the National People's Congress with around 3,000 delegates, Prime Minister Li Keqiang announced a planned economic growth of 6.5 percent. Inflation is said to be 3 percent. In addition, military spending is to be increased by 8.1 percent to 1.1 trillion yuan (around 128 billion euros).

- Manchester / United Kingdom , Stuttgart / Germany : At the weekend, Kurds across Europe gathered out of anger over the “Olive Branch” operation of the Turkish armed forces in Syria . There were arson and clashes with the police. In the United Kingdom, Manchester Piccadilly station had to be temporarily closed due to the actions .
