Iceland will play in the group A preliminary round on June 11th against Belarus (0: 2), on June 14th against Switzerland (0: 2) and on June 18th against Denmark (3: 1). Iceland was only able to take third place in the group and was eliminated after the group stage,

Switzerland
The Switzerland plays in the preliminary round in Group A on 11 June against Denmark (1: 0), on June 14 against Iceland (2: 0) and on June 18 against Belarus (3: 0). Switzerland won the group confidently and qualified for the semifinals , where they met the Czech Republic on June 22nd and after a 0-0 win in regular time in extra time, they managed to land a 1-0 win Switzerland qualified for the final for the first time in the history of this competition. In the final , which was played on June 25, Spain was the opponent and left the field as a 2-0 winner.

Spain
Spain played in the group B preliminary round on June 12th against England (1-1), on June 15th against the Czech Republic (2-0) and on June 19th against Ukraine (3-0). This secured Spain the group victory and qualified for the semi-finals , where Belarus was the opponent on June 22nd. The Spaniards were only able to equalize to 1: 1 one minute before the end of regular time. In the extra time, however, Spain clearly prevailed 3-1 and qualified for the final for the fourth time in the history of this competition. In the final , which was played on June 25, Switzerland was the opponent. With a 2-0 win, Spain won the title for the third time after 1986 and 1998.

Czech Republic
The Czech Republic will play in the group B preliminary round on June 12th against Ukraine (2-1), on June 15th against Spain (0-2) and on June 19th against England (2-1). The Czech Republic was able to take second place in the group and qualified for the semi-finals , where they met Switzerland on June 22nd. After making a 0-0 draw in regular time, the Czech Republic lost 1-0 in extra time .
The Czech Republic was eliminated from the tournament, but still played the qualifying game for participation in the 2012 Olympic football tournament against Belarus on June 25 , in which they had to admit defeat 0: 1. The statistics of this game are not included in the table below.

Belarus
Belarus will play in the preliminary round in Group A on June 11 against Iceland (2-0), on June 14 against Denmark (1: 2) and on June 18 against Switzerland (0: 3). Belarus finished second in the group and qualified for the semi-finals , where they met Spain on June 22nd. The Belarusians led 1-0 up to a minute before the end of regular time, but had to accept the equalizer to make it 1-1. In extra time , Spain prevailed 3-1.
Belarus was thus eliminated from the tournament, but still played the qualifying game for participation in the 2012 Olympic football tournament against the Czech Republic on June 22nd . Belarus qualified for the 2012 Olympics by winning 1-0. The statistics of this game are not included in the table below.

Legionaries
Of the total of 184 players who were called up for the finals of the U-21 European Football Championship in 2011, 44 were players (23.9%) who were not under contract in their own country. Most of the legionnaires came from Iceland, from which 14 of the 23 players earn their living abroad. In contrast, all Ukrainian players are active in their own country.
