The Nibelungen Straße B 130 is a state road in Austria . It runs for 52 km through the narrow Upper Danube Valley from Eferding to the state border to Germany near Passau ( Achleiten border crossing ) and there passes the border rock Kräutelstein in the Danube, which is only 30 meters west of the road.

The most important connections are the Aschacher Straße  B 131 via Aschach to Ottensheim, the Danube bridge Niederranna to the western Mühlviertel, and the Sauwald Straße  B 136 via the Sauwald to Schärding .

It is important for regional traffic, its importance for transit traffic is rather low, since Passau and Linz are connected by the Innkreis and West Autobahn (E 56 – E 552 – E 55/60). The course is of particular scenic beauty, both in the Aschachtal in the municipality of Stroheim (nature reserve) and in the entire Danube valley (European protected area), and at Schlögen it passes the upper entrance of the Schlögener loop - therefore it is a typical excursion route.

history

The Nibelungen Straße is part of the Austrian Nibelungenstraße , which is the planned route of a motorway project from the 1930s. This street, which runs along the banks of the Danube, has been called Donaustraße since 1932 . After the annexation of Austria , this road was converted into a 1st order country road on April 1, 1940 as part of the standardization of the road system and classified as part of the LIO 16 leading from Passau via Hartkirchen to Ottensheim .

The Nibelungen Straße belonged to the network of federal highways in Austria since January 1st, 1951 .

expansion

In the course of the Eferding bypass, the first section of the B 129, which opened on November 30, 2014, no longer leads into the city of Eferding, so the route from the B 129 to the B 130 currently leads via Wallerner Straße B 134.

After the construction of the second part of the bypass, the B 130 is expected to begin west of Hinzenbach from the end of 2016 .

B130  Like the other former federal highways, Nibelungen Strasse was part of the federal administration. Since April 1, 2002, it has been under state administration and continues to have the B in the number, but not the name Bundesstraße.
