Carlos Alberto Tévez (born February 5, 1984 in Ciudadela , Tres de Febrero ) is an Argentine football player . He has been under contract with Boca Juniors since January 2018 and can be used as a center forward and hanging tip. Tévez was named South American Footballer of the Year three times (2003, 2004, 2005). He is so far the only soccer player to have become both champion and soccer player of the year in Brazil ( Corinthians São Paulo ), Argentina (Boca Juniors) and Italy ( Juventus Turin ). He has also become champions in England, twice with Manchester United and once with Manchester City . Tévez won a. a. both in South America the Copa Libertadores ( 2003 ) and in Europe the Champions League ( 2007/08 ). He received the gold medal at the Olympic football tournament of the 2004 Summer Olympics .

childhood

Tévez grew up in the modest neighborhood of the high-rise estate Ejército de Los Andes in the metropolitan area of Buenos Aires, which is popularly known as "Fuerte Apache" ( Apache Fortress ) and earned him the nickname Apache . As a small child, boiling water ran down his neck and upper body in an accident. These injuries left scars.

Career

In the club

Beginnings

At the age of 13 he began to play for the Boca Juniors , for which he made his first division debut against Club Atlético Talleres from Córdoba on October 21, 2001 at the age of 17 . Carlitos quickly became one of the most popular players due to his scoring risk . He had a share in the titles his team won in 2003 and 2004: the Argentine championship, the Copa Libertadores , the World Cup (all 2003) and the Copa Sudamericana (2004).

Corinthians São Paulo

In December 2004, he spent 20 million US dollars to Brazil for Corinthians and received a five-year contract worth $ 10 million there. This club change was the most expensive transfer ever made in South American football. With the Corinthians, Tévez became Brazilian champions in his first season .

West Ham United

After falling out with the leadership of the Corinthians, he joined the English club West Ham United in August 2006 with Javier Mascherano . This prevailed in transfer poker against numerous well-known clubs such as Arsenal FC and AC Milan .

After a bumpy start at the beginning of the season, he finally prevailed in the London squad in the 2007 calendar year and made a significant contribution to staying up with his 1-0 winner against Manchester United . However, due to irregularities in the signing of Tévez and his compatriot Javier Mascherano, a decision had to be made at the Green Table . West Ham United did not have to pay any transfer to the marketing agency MSI, which owns the rights to the two, for either Tévez or Javier Mascherano , but only took over their salary. This illegal violation - third parties are not allowed to cash in on transfers - was fined by the Premier League in April with a fine of 5.5 million pounds.

Manchester United

In the summer of 2007 , the Argentine moved to league rivals Manchester United . In return, the striker had three million euros to West Ham United to pay. The "Red Devils" were allowed to borrow Tévez for two seasons and then had the option to buy the striker for 30 million euros. He was numbered 32, the same as West Ham.

On August 15, 2007, "Carlitos" made his debut in a 1-1 draw against Portsmouth FC and contributed to the 1-0 lead with an assist. He scored his first goal for Manchester United in the Premier League game against Chelsea on September 23, 2007. In 2008 he won the Champions League in addition to the championship with Manchester . In June 2009, Manchester United announced that Tévez would leave the club because contract negotiations failed. Instead, he will play for city rivals Manchester City .

Manchester City

For the 2009/10 season, Manchester City signed Carlos Tévez. He signed a five-year contract and was number 32 with the Citizens . In his first season in 2009/10 , Tévez made 35 Premier League games and scored 23 goals. There were also six appearances in the Carling Cup , in which he was the top scorer after six goals, and one appearance in the FA Cup without scoring . The 2010/11 season , Tévez 'second season with Manchester City, began as captain of his team.

In December 2010, Tévez asked his club in writing to be able to leave the club for family reasons and move to Spanish-speaking countries. Manchester City refused this request. Then Tévez threatened with an early retirement. On December 20, 2010, both sides agreed to continue working. At the end of the 2010/11 season , Tévez won the FA Cup with his club . In addition, he secured the title of top scorer in the Premier League with 21 goals .

After Tévez announced several times in the summer of 2011 that he wanted to change clubs, coach Roberto Mancini deposed him as team captain and passed the armband on to Vincent Kompany . On September 27, 2011, Tévez apparently refused to replace him in a Champions League game against Bayern Munich . He was then suspended from his club for two weeks. Manchester City coach Roberto Mancini also refused to include him in upcoming games. He later relativized this statement when he offered Tévez to return to the team if he apologized. Such apology did not appear to have been made, however, as Tévez did not play for Manchester City in the months that followed and Roberto Mancini announced in January that his return to the team was out of the question. Through the entire affair, its market value is said to have fallen from 40 million to 23 million euros. As a result, attempts to accommodate Tévez in the January transfer window at other clubs failed, although both the French first division side Paris St. Germain FC and the Italian top clubs AC Milan and Inter Milan showed interest in him, but were apparently not ready the required 30 million euros transfer fee to be paid. Manchester City is said to have demanded compensation from Tévez for the fallen market value. In addition, there were other wage penalties in the millions, but Tévez appealed. After a further reconciliation with coach Roberto Mancini, Tévez finally returned to the squad in February 2012 and played a game in the Premier League for the first time in March .

Juventus Turin

For the 2013/14 season Tévez moved to Juventus Turin . He signed a three-year contract until June 2016 and received the number 10 shirt from Alessandro Del Piero . Tévez scored his first goal for Juventus in his competitive debut in the Italian Supercup final against Lazio Rome . A few days later he scored his first league goal for Juve in a 1-0 win on the first matchday of Serie A against Sampdoria Genoa . With his third competitive goal in the third game in the 4-1 home win against Lazio, Tévez became the second player in club history after Roberto Baggio to score a goal in each of his first three games for the club. On April 25, 2014, he scored his first goal at European level in five years in the Europa League semi-final against Benfica Lisbon .

Between Buenos Aires and Shanghai

For the 2015/16 season, Tévez returned prematurely to his home club Boca Juniors .

For the 2017 season, Tévez moved to the Chinese Super League at Shanghai Shenhua . According to media reports, Tévez is said to have earned an annual salary of around 40 million euros with a contract term of two years and rose to be the best-paid footballer at the time. In Shanghai, however, Tévez only made 16 league appearances in which he scored four goals.

At the beginning of January 2018, Tévez terminated his contract with Shanghai Shenhua, which was still valid for the CSL season 2018 starting in spring, and returned to the Boca Juniors. His contract runs until June 2021 with an option for a further six months.

In the national team

Tévez made his debut for the Argentina national team on March 30, 2004 in the World Cup qualifier against Ecuador , when he came on in the 83rd minute for Javier Saviola . He took part in both the Copa America 2004 and the Olympic Games in Athens. In the latter tournament, the Argentine team won the gold medal without losing points and without conceding goals . Tévez was the top scorer here with eight goals in six games. Among other things, he scored the decisive 1-0 in the final against Paraguay.

Tévez was nominated by coach José Pekerman for the tournament for the Confederations Cup 2005 and used in the game against Germany from the start. In the final, which the Argentine national team lost to Brazil 1: 4, he came on for Luciano Figueroa in the 72nd minute .

During the 2006 World Cup he was a substitute striker behind Javier Saviola and Hernán Crespo . Tévez made four appearances, scored once in the 6-0 win against Serbia-Montenegro and was voted “Man of the Match” in the group game against the Netherlands.

In the summer of 2007 Tévez took part in the Copa America with Argentina and finished second. Tévez was used in all six games during the tournament and scored one goal. At the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, Tévez played four games and scored two goals. After the 2011 Copa America, where he was used three times, he was no longer considered under coach Alejandro Sabella , which he repeatedly complained about publicly due to his high number of hits at Juventus. Despite 19 goals in Serie A, the striker was also not considered for the World Cup in Brazil . In November 2014 he celebrated his comeback and was a substitute with four appearances at the 2015 Copa America . His last international match to date was against Paraguay on October 14, 2015.
