The Decatur County is a county in the state of Georgia to the United States . The county seat is Bainbridge , named after Commodore William Bainbridge , commander of the USS Constitution .

The county is located in southwest Georgia on the northern border with Florida and has an area of 1,614 square kilometers, of which 68 square kilometers are water and is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Baker County , Mitchell County , Grady County , Seminole County and Miller County .
history
Decatur County was formed on December 8, 1823 from parts of Early County. It was named after Commodore Stephen Decatur , who defeated the Barbary Coast Pirates in 1815.
