The Forsyth County is a county in the state of Georgia to the United States . The county seat is Cumming .

The county is located in north-central Georgia, about 120 km to the west from Alabama , about 100 km to the north-northwest from Tennessee , about 90 km to the north from North Carolina, and about 80 km to the northeast from South Carolina . It has an area of 641 square kilometers, of which 56 square kilometers are water surface and is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Hall County , Gwinnett County , Fulton County , Cherokee County and Dawson County .
The county is part of the metropolitan area of Atlanta .
history
Forsyth County was formed on December 3, 1832 from parts of Cherokee County. It was named after John Forsyth , a Georgia governor and US Secretary of State under Presidents Andrew Jackson and Martin Van Buren .

According to the 2010 census, the 175,511 inhabitants at that time were distributed over 47,623 inhabited households, which gives an average of 2.94 people per household. There are a total of 59,433 households.

85.4% of the population identified themselves as whites, 2.6% as African American , 0.3% as Indians and 6.2% as Asian Americans . 3.8% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.6% to several ethnic groups. 9.4% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .
