Saint-Georges (German Sankt Georg ) is a French commune with 198 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Sarrebourg-Château-Salins .

geography

Saint-Georges is located twelve kilometers southwest of Sarrebourg at an altitude between 279 and 351 m above sea level, the mean height is 310 m. The municipal area covers 8.1 km².

history

The village was German until 1681, then became part of France, became German again in 1871 and then French again in 1919. In the period from 1939 to 1945 it was again under German administration and then again under French administration.
