The Stewart County is a county in the state of Georgia to the United States . The county seat is Lumpkin .

geography

The county is located in southwest Georgia, on the border with Alabama and has an area of ​​1,200 square kilometers, of which twelve square kilometers are water surface, and is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Chattahoochee County , Marion County , Webster County , Randolph County and Quitman County .

history

Stewart County was formed on December 23, 1830. It was named after General Daniel Stewart , an officer in the Revolutionary War and great-grandfather of President Theodore Roosevelt .
