- February: The short story The Grammar of Love by Ivan Bunin appears in the Moscow almanac Klitsch .
- March 26 : Virginia Woolf's first novel, The Voyage Out ( The trip out ) appears. The work, which has strongly autobiographical traits, and whose publication was delayed by her husband Leonard for almost two years because of Virginia's depression , received a warm welcome from the critics, but sells poorly.
- September 18 : The American Saturday Evening Post published the short story Extricating Young Gussie , with which PG Wodehouse first introduced its recurring fictional characters Bertie Wooster , whose valet Reginald Jeeves and Aunt Agatha .
- October: The story The Lord from San Francisco by Iwan Bunin appears in the 5th volume of the Slovo anthology in Moscow.
