Moussey (German Mulsach ) is a French commune with 561 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Sarrebourg-Château-Salins .

Moussey (Moselle) is located 21 kilometers west of Sarrebourg at an altitude between 236 and 280 m above sea level, the mean height is 250 m. The municipality covers 7.89 km². The municipality is located in the Lorraine Regional Nature Park .

The village itself is to the south and Bataville to the north of the Meurthe tributary Sânon and the Rhine-Marne Canal running through its valley . A quarter of the Étang de la Laxière ( Landsknechtweiher ), which borders Bataville to the north, belongs to Moussey. The Ruisseau de la Laxière brook flowing out of the pond forms the north-western boundary of the municipality.
history
The village was German until 1681, then became part of France, became German again in 1871 (after the Franco-Prussian War ) and then French again in 1919 (after the Versailles Peace Treaty ). In the period from 1940 to 1945, during the Second World War, it was again under German administration and then again under French administration.
