Phoenix Motorcars, Inc. is a US automobile manufacturer headquartered in Ontario , California . Since it was founded in 2002 , the aim of Phoenix Motorcars has been to develop and manufacture electric vehicles that are particularly suitable for road traffic on motorways. The vehicles are recognized by the US state of California as Zero Emission Vehicles. The company status is currently only that of a startup company .
Financially, the company has so far been considered bankrupt. This situation only improved in summer 2009. Phoenix Motorcars is also an unofficial part of GMDAT and has been looked after by manager Daniel J. Elliott since 2006 , who has many years of experience at Daewoo and DaimlerChrysler . In cooperation with Altair Nanotechnologies, Inc. and Electrovaya Inc. , the company succeeded in launching the first two models in series production in 2008 after internal restructuring and the acquisition of additional investors.
The brand's pickup is the Phoenix SUT , which functions as a sister model to the SsangYong Actyon Sports .
