The Warren County is a county in the state of Georgia to the United States . The county seat is Warrenton .

The county is located in central northeast Georgia, about 50 km from the South Carolina border and covers 743 square kilometers, of which three square kilometers are water, and is bordered clockwise by the following counties: McDuffie County , Jefferson County , Glascock County , Hancock County , Taliaferro County, and Wilkes County .

history

Warren County was formed on December 19, 1793 as the 20th County of Georgia from parts of Columbia County, Burke County, Richmond County, and Wilkes County. It was named, like the town of Warrenton, after General Joseph Warren , a hero in the Revolutionary War, killed at the Battle of Bunker Hill .
