Zommange (German Zemmingen ) is a French commune with 44 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Sarrebourg-Château-Salins .

geography

Zommange is located east of Metz near the Linderweiher (Étang de Lindre) at an altitude between 210 and 242 m above sea level, the mean height is 220 m. The municipality covers 6.34 km². The municipality is located in the Lorraine Regional Nature Park .

history

Zommange was destroyed in the Thirty Years War and in 1650 had no more residents. The small village belonged to the German Empire from 1871 to 1918 , but French remained the official and colloquial language. At that time, Zommange had significantly more inhabitants than today (1885: 92 inhabitants).
