The Carroll County is a county in the state of Georgia to the United States . The county seat is Carrollton .

The county is located in northwest Georgia, borders Alabama to the west and has an area of 1305 square kilometers, of which 13 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Haralson County , Paulding County , Douglas County , Fulton County , Coweta County, and Heard County .

The county is part of the metropolitan area of Atlanta .

history

Carroll County was formed on June 9, 1825 as the 66th County in Georgia. It was named after Charles Carroll of Maryland , a signer of the Declaration of Independence.
