The Carroll County is a county in the state of Georgia to the United States . The county seat is Carrollton .

The county is located in northwest Georgia, borders Alabama to the west and has an area of ​​1305 square kilometers, of which 13 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Haralson County , Paulding County , Douglas County , Fulton County , Coweta County, and Heard County .

The county is part of the metropolitan area of ​​Atlanta .

history

Carroll County was formed on June 9, 1825 as the 66th County in Georgia. It was named after Charles Carroll of Maryland , a signer of the Declaration of Independence.
