Friborg (German: Freiburg ) is a French commune with 165 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Sarrebourg-Château-Salins and the canton of Sarrebourg .

geography

Friborg is located 15 kilometers west of Sarreborg , between the Linderweiher ( Étang de Lindre ) and the Stockweiher ( Étang du Stock ). The 17.42 km² large municipal area is part of the Lorraine Regional Nature Park .

The hamlets belong to the municipality of Friborg:

  • Albeschaux ( Alberschhofen ), to the northeast, with the Ste-Anne chapel
  • Sainte-Croix ( Heiligkreuzhof ), also northeast.
  • Albing (1497: Elbingen)

history

The village was owned by the bishops of Metz in the Middle Ages and has belonged to France since 1766.
