Haeska (German Hasick ) is a village ( Estonian küla ) on the largest Estonian island of Saaremaa . It belongs to the rural community Saaremaa (until 2017: rural community Pihtla ) in the Saare district .

Population and location

The village has 84 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2011). It is located 21 kilometers northeast of the island's capital Kuressaare .

Well

Possibly as early as the middle of the 15th century, the local estate was created through enfeoffments with the surrounding land. From 1632 until it was expropriated as part of the Estonian land reform in 1919, it was owned (with interruptions) by the German Baltic von Nolcken family .

The former manor house, probably a single-storey wooden building, and the majority of the outbuildings no longer exist today.
