Course of the road

The Reschenstraße B 180 is a state road in Austria . It has a length of 39.1 km and leads from the end of the motorway slip road in Fliess through the Upper Inn Valley to the border with Italy just before the Reschen Pass , from which it takes its name. With the construction of the Landecker Tunnel , which was completed in 2000 , Zams and Landeck were relieved of through traffic and the Reschenstrasse was shortened by the new beginning at the end of the motorway feeder. The former initial section from Landeck to Fliess became the L 76.
course
Reschenstrasse begins today at the southern end of the Landeck bypass near Fliess and then runs on the orographically right bank of the Inn through the Upper Court . At Tösens she changes to the left inside. The Engadiner Straße B 184 branches off southeast of Pfunds and continues along the Inn into the Engadin . The Reschenstraße, on the other hand, crosses the Inn again with the Kajetansbrücke and climbs over the Hochfinstermünz and the Finstermünzpass around 400 meters in altitude to Nauders . From there it leads only gently inclined to the border ( 1450 m above sea level. A. ) before Reschen where they in the state road SS 40 passes.
history
Origins
The Roman road Via Claudia Augusta , begun in 46, was the first drivable road over the Reschenpass. This connection was one of the most important historical Alpine crossings in the Middle Ages and up to the early modern period.
Under the direction of the builders Carl von Ghega and Josef Duile , a new road from Nauders to the Kajetansbrücke was built between 1850 and 1856 , which was called the Vinschgauer Reichsstraße until 1918 .
Previous routes and names
The Passo road belongs to the former imperial roads that were taken in 1921 as federal highways. In 1926 this road was widened and paved. Until 1938 the Vinschgauer Straße was designated as the B 76, after the connection of Austria the Vinschgauer Straße was led as part of the Reichsstraße 24 until 1945 . From 1949 to 1971 the Vinschgauer Straße was designated as B 187.
According to the Federal Roads Act of 1971, the Reschenschnellstrasse S 15 was supposed to replace the Vinschgauer Strasse, which is why it was given the name Reschen Ersatzstrasse and the number B 315. In 1986, the expressway was deleted from the Federal Roads Act, which had already been completed (one lane with one lane in each direction) Section of the expressway (Ried-Pfunds) was devalued to the federal highway, but remained an automobile road. Since 1999 the Reschen Straße (name since 1986) has been referred to as the B 180 .
On May 15, 2002 the spelling of the present state road was changed by the Tyrolean state parliament to Reschenstraße .

B180 | Like the other former federal highways, Reschenstrasse was part of the federal administration. Since April 1, 2002, it has been under state administration and continues to have the B in the number, but not the name Bundesstraße. |
