Origin and meaning
The name is derived from Lehnsmann , owner of an agricultural fief. In the 18th century it occurs mainly in two more or less closed distribution areas. It had its main distribution southeast of Berlin ( Brandenburg ). A smaller area with an accumulation of the name near the Black Forest could be based on internal German migration movements.
