The Walker County is a county in the US state of Georgia to the United States . The county seat is LaFayette .
geography
The county is located almost in the extreme northwest of Georgia, bordered by Tennessee to the north and Alabama to the west . It covers an area of 1,158 square kilometers, of which one square kilometer is water surface, and is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Catoosa County , Whitfield County , Gordon County, and Chattooga Counties . The Lookout Mountain is the highest point of the county.
The county is part of the Chattanooga metropolitan area .
history
Walker County was formed on December 18, 1833 as the 99th County of Georgia from parts of Cherokee County. It was named after Major Freeman Walker , a lawyer and US Senator.

According to the 2010 census, the then 68,756 inhabitants were distributed over 26,497 inhabited households, which gives an average of 2.54 people per household. There are a total of 30,100 households.
