Abreschviller (German Alberschweiler , 1941–1944 Albersweiler ; Lorraine Elwartwiller ) is a French commune with 1,427 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). Before 1945 the place name was written in French Abreschwiller .

geography

The community is on the edge of the Vosges on the Red Saar , near the Donon . The districts are La Valette, Charlot, Les Deux Rivières, Grossmann and Grand Soldat (Soldatenthal).

In addition to the former Abreschviller station , the Chemin de fer touristique d'Abreschviller (Alberschweiler Forest Railway), operated as a museum railway , has been running since 1968 . It was created on the railway line to Grand Soldat of the former forest railway from Abreschviller.

Every spring a hill climb is held on the road to Saint-Quirin , part of the French hill climb championship.

Personalities
