Alsbach is a municipality in the Westerwaldkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Ransbach-Baumbach community .

The community is located in the Westerwald , about eight kilometers east of Bendorf , three kilometers north of Höhr-Grenzhausen and eleven kilometers west of Montabaur . In the southeast, the Masselbach forms the border with the neighboring municipality of Kammerforst . Around 55 percent of the municipal area is forested and 36 percent is used for agriculture.

The Gut Hof Rembs and Hüttenmühle residential areas also belong to Alsbach .

Evangelical parish church

Alsbach was first mentioned in 1143. In 1564 the Reformation was introduced in the parish of Alsbach under the Wiedischen rule. Due to the accession of the two Nassau princes to the Confederation of the Rhine and the simultaneous mediation of the Wied princes, Alsbach belonged to the Duchy of Nassau from 1806 ( Selters office ) and came to the Kingdom of Prussia in 1866 . Under the Prussian administration, Alsbach belonged to the Unterwesterwaldkreis in the Wiesbaden region . After the Second World War , Alsbach came to the newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate . The Unterwesterwaldkreis and thus Alsbach was now assigned to the new administrative district of Montabaur . After its dissolution, the Unterwesterwaldkreis became part of the Koblenz administrative district in 1968 ; Alsbach has belonged to the Ransbach-Baumbach community since 1972 and the Westerwaldkreis since 1974 .
