- Kiel / Germany : In the early state elections in Schleswig-Holstein , the parties of the ruling grand coalition CDU and SPD are almost on par with 30.8% and 30.4%. The Pirate Party achieved significant profits , whose share of the vote now amounts to 8.2%. It is the third state election in a row in which the party has overcome the five percent hurdle .

- Tehran / Iran : The Iranian government has banned banks, insurance companies and telephone companies in the country from using foreign Internet service providers , according to a report in the weekly newspaper "Asr Ertebatat" . - Düsseldorf / Germany : The early state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia have made the long-time ruling party SPD the strongest political force again. It comes to 39.1%, while the CDU loses 8.3% of the vote and is clearly lagging behind with around 26%. The left has to leave parliament, the pirate party manages to move in.
- Frankfurt am Main / Germany : Paul Watson , founder of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society , is arrested at the Rhein / Main airport due to an arrest request from Costa Rica .
- Kampala / Uganda : General Caesar Acellam from the Lord's Resistance Army fighting in northern Uganda , wanted by the International Criminal Court in The Hague for war crimes and crimes against humanity, was arrested by soldiers of the Ugandan armed forces in Djema in the Central African Republic .
- Beijing / China : At a summit meeting between the Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao , the Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda and the South Korean President Lee Myung-bak , further negotiations for a common free trade area were agreed.
- Wiener Neustadt / Austria : With a 5-1 away win against SC Wiener Neustadt , FC Red Bull Salzburg crowned themselves champions of the Austrian Football Championship 2011/12 in the penultimate round .
