Course, traffic volume and expansion

End of the Salzkammergutstraße in the Styrian Trautenfels

Most of the Salzkammergutstrasse is very well developed, only between Bad Aussee and Bad Goisern the condition is not satisfactory. In the Pichl-Kainisch  - Bad Mitterndorf area , it was laid out in a very straight line and without crossings for a few kilometers. This section of the federal highway is the only expressway type in this region of Styria.

At the northern entrance of Bad Ischl, the Salzkammergutstraße connects with the Wolfgangsee Straße  B 158 towards Salzburg. Lately it has also become more and more popular with truck hauliers (especially in the region around Salzburg) as an inexpensive and kilometer-cheaper shortcut to the Pyhrn Autobahn / West Autobahn (toll refugees). In the summer months in particular, there is a high level of through traffic. Nevertheless, the traffic load between Gmunden and the motorway exit to the West Autobahn is most intense in Regau.

Passports:

2006 Opening of the Zwoanzger (railway overpass, construction value: EUR 4.6 million). In 2007/08 the Untergrimming avalanche gallery was extended from 300 m to 411.33 m.

history

Before 1861 there was no continuous road connection to the Salzkammergut. The Lambach-Gmundener Reichsstraße connected the Salzburger Reichsstraße with the Traunsee. In Gmunden, all goods had to be reloaded onto ships and transported to Ebensee by water. This is where the Ebensee-Ischler Reichsstraße began , which ended in Ischl in the Salzburger Straße. This road originally belonged to the kk Salinen- und Forstdirektion Gmunden , but was subsidized by the state fund. Gmunden-Traunkircher Bezirksstrasse was opened in 1856. On April 30, 1856, the construction contracts for the road construction between Traunkirchen and Ebensee were awarded. In 1861 the road on the western bank of the Traunsee was completed.

The Salzkammergut-Strasse between Lambach and Ennstal Strasse is one of the former imperial roads that were taken over as federal roads in 1921. Until 1938, Salzkammergut-Strasse was designated as B 39; after the connection with Austria , Salzkammergut-Strasse was run as Reichsstrasse  339 until 1945 .

From 1949 the Salzkammergut-Straße from Lambach to Bad Aussee was continuously referred to as the B 145. In 1971 the Salzkammergut-Straße was relocated to the stretch of the former Hausruck Straße between Vöcklabruck and Gmunden. The road between Lambach and Gmunden has since been referred to as Gmundener Straße  B 144.

B145  Like the other former federal highways, Salzkammergutstrasse was part of the federal administration. Since April 1, 2002, it has been under state administration and continues to have the B in the number, but not the name Bundesstraße.
